Care & Conserve Program (C&C)
SEA's most recent program is Care & Conserve
(C&C). Established in 1995 and operated in collaboration
with the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management , Care & Conserve promotes water conservation by performing water audits, conservation counseling, and
plumbing repair. Repairs range from replacing washers on
leaky faucets to replacing toilets; conservation measures taken include
installation of toilet tank, low-flow showerheads, and ultra-low-flow toilets. In 2007, the program was expanded to include repair or replacement of sanitary
sewer lines. The repairs are essential to preventing health and safety problems
due to mold, mildew, plumbing backups and other concerns. In addition,
households which are in danger of having their water turned off because
of delinquent bills are eligible for one-time utility payment
assistance. C&C is currently funded by the City of
Atlanta, by individual, corporate and foundation donors, and by
voluntary donations from customers of the
Atlanta Department of Watershed Management
. Over 1,000 households have benefited from this service.
"Care and Conserve is an
important program that allows us to help people who need one-time
assistance in paying their water/sewer bills or with plumbing
repairs.
In administering the program
on behalf of the City, Southeast Energy has been a reliable, diligent
partner, helping us to help those in need."

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
Typical weatherization services are: adding insulation to floors and
attics, replacing or repairing damaged exterior doors, installing
weather stripping and
caulking, etc. Skilled crews trained in energy conservation
techniques perform all weatherization services. Residents
are involved in all steps of the process, which includes stringent
quality control.
Weatherization includes energy related repairs to reduce heat or air conditioning waste. Our experience
has shown that weatherization can reduce household energy use an
average of 25%, increasing comfort and providing a margin of safety in
extreme weather conditions. All homes are tested for excessive levels of Carbon Monoxide and any appliances with high levels will be repaired or replaced. All homes receive Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Carbon Monoxide detectors. Equally important is the
increased value that weatherization adds to homes. This is
also a benefit to the community because the repairs help maintain the
housing stock.
