Federal guidelines limit eligibility to households whose combined
annual income does not exceed 150% of the Poverty Index. Those
figures are revised annually, usually in March. The limits for the
year 2008 appear to the right. Presently, an individual living
alone cannot have an income over $15,600 and the income of a family
of four cannot exceed $31,800. The only exceptions to this
requirement are households with a member who receives either
Supplemental Security Income or Temporary Aid to Needy Families;
these households are automatically eligible. |
